Silk is an absoluetly amazing fiber...soft and shimmer filled, but, for its fineness...very strong. It does take a room full of people to really go into production...but as  the process of growing one's own silk is so amazing, I try to do a small amount, just to keep it out there... I then blend the silk with my other fibers, to add that special sheen!!!

Bombyx silk, which accounts for most of the silk used in the World, is shimmering white, and the moths are totally longer able to fly, or survive on their own in the wild.

These are my cocoons...not an easy process to get silk...but worth the effort! I do PEACE silk...I let them hatch, and do not boil them, as I spin, and only need shorter lengths any way!
